About message tracking

Prev Next

The message tracking feature allows you to search for any email message that was accepted by the Email Security - Server appliance. You can also determine the email verdict and message status associated with the message. All events are tracked for each message scanned by the Email Security - Server appliance. You can see whether the message was analyzed, quarantined, dropped, or delivered to another message transfer agent (MTA) that can receive the incoming email. You can verify whether a message was scanned by the Email Security - Server appliance. You can view the list of malicious and non-malicious emails that have been processed by the Email Security - Server appliance based on the type of fields (Message ID, Sender, Recipient, Subject Line, URL, and Attachment) on the Search Emails > Processed Emails page of the Email Security - Server appliance. For details about how to view the results of processed emails, see Viewing or exporting the results of processed emails.

Email messages can be tracked and managed as they move through the MTA queue. Email attributes can be filtered based on the sender, recipient, or queue type to help you to search and to verify that messages were received, analyzed, and delivered to the next-hop IP address. Email messages are stored in the email queue until they are processed and deleted from the Email Security - Server appliance. You can view the messages that are queued for dynamic analysis on the Search Emails > Queued Emails page of the Email Security - Server appliance. For details about how to view the results of queued emails, see Viewing the results of an email query.
