Benefits

Visual labels serve as immediate cues for users to handle sensitive information correctly. Displaying classifications reinforces a culture of security, highlighting the value and ownership of organizational data. Adding watermarks reminds users not to photograph their screens or print sensitive files, helping prevent data theft. In case of a breach, visual labels help investigators quickly identify the sensitivity of the compromised data. By embedding labels into metadata, your visual markers and security settings follow the file wherever it goes. With these kind of benefits, Trellix DLP Endpoint - SaaS allows:

  • End-users to label the document, so that other users are aware of its classification.

  • End-users to label the documents without the use of third-party tools.

  • Manage multiple solutions with reduced administrative and operating cost.

Solution

Trellix DLP Endpoint supports labeling on headers, footers, and watermarks, depending on the document type. For more information about configuring visual labels, see Configuring manual classification with customizable visual labels.

Before you begin

Administrators must complete these steps in Trellix DLP Endpoint :

  1. Create a manual classification.

  2. Select Manual classification in Additional Actions (Group by classifications) to allow users specified in End User Groups to manually apply or remove metadata classification and visual labeling to files and emails and view existing classifications.

  3. Configure manual classification In ViewGeneral settings.

Apply a classification with visual label to a Microsoft Word document

End-users must follow these steps to apply classifications with visual labels:

  1. Open a word document, go to HomeManual Classification.

  2. In the Manual Classification dialog box, select the type of label you want to add and choose a classification.

Selecting a classification automatically makes the classification turn up the visual label properties such as the header, footer, font, border, or metadata that are configured by the administrators in DLP General Settings.

Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook have the same options, but only Word supports adding classification details as a watermark. PowerPoint won't let you add classification details to headers or as watermarks.
