DBMS Configuration

The DBMS Configuration tab displays the DBMS properties. You can view and edit the properties of a DBMS, such as its name, description, and DBMS group.

Option		Definition
Name		The name of the DBMS.
Database version		The database type and version.
Instance Name		The name of the DBMS instance. This field is available only for MS SQL database.
Sid		The service name or database instance ID This field is available only for Oracle database.
Database Name		The name of the database. This field is available only for DB2LUW, MS SQL, and SQL Azure database.
Host		The name of the host server.
Description		A brief description of the DBMS.
vPatch Coverage		Displays the available vPatch relevant protections. Displays the available relevant Oracle critical patch updates.
DBMS Groups		Displays the DBMS groups to which the DBMS belongs to.
Enable Vulnerability Assessment	User Name	The user name used to connect to the DBMS.
	Password	The password used to connect to the DBMS.
	Host	The name of the host where the DBMS is installed.
	Port	The port on the host used to connect to the DBMS.
	Instance Name	The name of the DBMS instance. This field is available only for MS SQL database.
Advanced	Connection String	The connection string is used to connect to a database.
Advanced	Connection Properties	Properties typically used by Technical Support for troubleshooting or alternative DBMS connection.
Exclude Users from password test		Lists the credentials of users to be excluded from weak password tests.
Enable OS Tests (Windows)	When selected, operating system level tests are enabled on the DBMS. This option is available only when the Enable Vulnerabilty Assessment option is selected.
	OS User Name	The user name used to log on to the operating system.
	OS Password	The password used to log on to the operating system.
	OS Connection Type	The type of connection used to test the operating system, such as, DCOM or SSH.
	Advanced OS Connection Settings	Advanced connection configuration.
Network/Memory Configuration Note This is applicable for MS SQL database only.	Caution Do not change the following settings unless advised to do so by Technical Support.
	Enable Network Monitoring	When selected, enables the monitoring of network access to the DBMS.
	Network Listening Ports	The ports on the DBMS used for network monitoring purposes.
	Enable Memory Monitoring	Enables the monitoring of memory usage by the DBMS.
Application Mapping	Enable Application Mapping	When selected, enables the mapping of application access to the DBMS.
	Limit Application Mapping Alerts per Second	The maximum number of application mapping alerts that are sampled per second.
	Notify When Database Events Count Exceeds	The number of database events, which when exceeded, triggers notification.
	Purge DBMS Application Mapping Data	Purges all DBMS application mapping data for the DBMS.
Failed Login Monitoring	Enable Failed Login Monitoring	When selected, enables monitoring the failed log on for the DBMS.
	Failed Login Count	The number of failed attempts to log on to one DBMS in the defined Failed Login Measure Period that triggers an alert (if triggers are enabled).
	Failed Login Measure Period	The time period in which, if the Failed Login Count is exceeded, an alert is generated by the vPatch rules.
DDL/DCL Monitoring	Enable Triggers	The DDL and failed logon triggers are enabled on the DBMS.
	DDL/DCL Delay Time	The time period for which the trigger delays the execution of the DDL/DCL command to allow the rule action to run first (so it can close the session before the statement is executed if required by the rule).
	Monitor Redo Buffer Note This is applicable for Oracle database only.	A monitoring technique that monitors the Oracle redo-log.
Alternative DBMS Connection	Enable Alternative DBMS connection (advanced users only)	When selected, alternative connections can be made using the following parameters.
	User Name	The user name used to connect to the DBMS.
	Password	The password used to connect to the DBMS.
	Connection String	The connection string used to connect to the DBMS. This parameter is applicable for Oracle DBMSs only.
Miscellaneous Note This is applicable for Sybase, MSSQL, and DB2 database only.	Trellix Database Security Cache Size	The size of the cache that the DBMS can use. This parameter is applicable for SQL DBMSs only.
	Member of	Allows to assign roles restrictions to a database.
	DBMS Groups	The DBMS groups to which this DBMS belongs to.
Charset Note This option is not available for MS SQL database		The DBMS character set : Detected — The detected character set. Selected — The selected character set.
