Enabling or disabling the appliance to send a notice in tap/span mode

Prev Next

You can enable or disable the Email Security - Server appliance to send another email to notify the recipient that a malicious email was detected in tap/span mode.

Note

You do not need to enable tap/span mode on the appliance to send another email notice to the recipient if a malicious email was detected. You also do not need to reboot the appliance for the changes to take effect.

Important

When the Central Management System appliance is used to manage your Email Security - Server appliances, use one of the following configuration commands to enable sending another email notice to the recipient in Tap/Span mode:

  • cmc execute appliance <appliance_name> command "email-analysis policy notice enable"

  • cmc execute group <group_name> command "email-analysis policy notice enable"

The first command enables sending another email notice to the recipient on an individual appliance. The second command enables sending another email notice to the recipient on a group of appliances.

Prerequisites

  • Administrator or Operator access to the Email Security - Server appliance.

  • (Optional) Verify that you have configured notices about malicious emails in the Configure Notice area of the Settings: Email Policy page.

  • After enabling the appliance to send another email notice to the recipient in tap/span mode, verify that you have specified the domain and next-hop addresses of the recipient in the Add Domain and Next-hop area of the Settings: Email MTA page.
