Trellix DLP Network Prevent appliances run on a proprietary Linux OS based on AlmaLinux 9.
Trellix® Agent version 5.8.5 is built into the appliance software.
Note
appliances contain a version of the Trellix Agent, which is built into the appliance software and cannot be updated through .
Compatible Trellix products
Trellix DLP appliances in this release have been tested for compatibility with the following Trellix managed product versions: McAfee Logon Collector 3.0.2.
System requirements for setting up a virtual appliance
Your host computer must adhere to the system requirements.
For VMware virtual environment, see the VMware Knowledge Base article 1003661 available at https://www.vmware.com to get the minimum system requirements for VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter Server.
For Windows Hyper-V virtual environment, see https://docs.microsoft.com.
For Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor, see https://www.nutanix.com/.
For Amazon Web Services, see https://aws.amazon.com/.
You need an x86 64-bit virtualization host with a Westmere processor or newer.
Ensure that the virtual appliance that you run meets the system requirements based on your business needs. You can choose to deploy a virtual appliance using one of these predefined deployment options.
Predefined deployment options | Processors | RAM (GB) | Capture disk capacity (TB) | OS HDD (GB) | RW HDD (GB)** |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Standard VM | 4 | 12 | N/A | 10 | 300 |
Standard VM - Capture | 4 | 32 | 4 | 10 | 300 |
Small VM* | 1 | 4 | N/A | 10 | 150 |
Small VM - Capture* | 1 | 4 | 0.5 | 10 | 150 |
Large VM | 16 | 64 | N/A | 10 | 300 |
Large VM - Capture | 16 | 64 | 8 | 10 | 300 |
Note
* Use the Small VM option only for evaluation purposes.
** The disk size displayed in the Size on Disk field while deploying a VMware virtual appliance is the total disk size of all different virtual machine variants that can be deployed and isn't the actual disk size that will be used for the predefined deployment VM variant you have chosen to install. For the actual disk size of the deployed virtual appliance, see RW HDD details in this table.
The required capture hard disks get created when deploying an appliance, if you choose the predefined deployment option that supports creating a capture disk.
Adding a capture disk to an existing virtual appliance is not supported. Deploy a replacement virtual appliance using a predefined deployment option that deploys a capture storage disk.
System requirements for setting up a hardware appliance
You can install your appliance on Trellix DLP 8800 (Super Micro X13 Server system), Trellix DLP 7700 or Trellix DLP 6600 appliance models, which are Intel® Server systems.
Model | Number of CPU cores | RAM (GB)** | Capture disk capacity (TB) | OS+RW HDD (TB) | Number of hard drives | Remote Management Module (RMM) | Rack height |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Trellix DLP 8800 appliance | 24 | 64 | N/A | 0.96 | 2 | Yes | 1U |
Trellix DLP 7700 appliance model | 20 | 64 | N/A | 0.96 | 2 | Yes | 1U |
Trellix DLP 6600 appliance model | 16 | 32 | N/A | 0.6 | 2 | Yes | 1U |
Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array* | N/A | N/A | 16 | N/A | N/A | N/A | 2U |
* The Trellix DLP 8800, Trellix DLP 7700, and Trellix DLP 6600 appliances have no in-built storage system. To create the needed capture disk space for enabling DLP Capture, set up and connect Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array to your appliance. Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array is shipped in a separate package with all items needed to install it with an appliance. Check the contents list to verify that you received all items.
** Trellix does not support adding more memory to appliances.
For information about these hardware appliances, see the Trellix Data Loss Prevention Network Prevent 11.11.x Hardware Guide or the Trellix DLP 8800 Hardware Guide.
System requirements for installing EDMTrain tool
The EDMTrain tool is needed to train data source files to generate the fingerprints file. These fingerprints files are scanned using the Exact Data Matching (Enhanced) feature to protect user records. The EDMTrain tool is supported on both Windows and Linux platforms. To train a huge data source file with up to 6 billion cells, the EDMTrain tool must be installed in a system with a minimum of these specifications:
8 GB memory
Dual Core CPU
Temporary disk space (in the directory specified by the environment variable, TMPDIR for Linux and TMP for Windows) of 50 GB -75 GB per billion cells, depending on the number of multiword cells in the dataset
Disk space for the final database in the output directory of approximately 10 GB per billion cells.
