Install Database Security server on a Windows platform

Database Security server is a J2EE server that communicates with all installed Database Security sensors.

Make sure that the system where you plan to install the Database Security management console meets minimum requirements. For more details about server requirements, see Database Security server requirements.

Database Security server can be installed on the same platform as the standalone database server. We recommend you to install it on a dedicated platform for better performance and security.

  1. Double-click the installation file Trellix-DBS-Server-installer-<version>.exe.

The Welcome to the Trellix Database Security Setup Wizard window is displayed.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Read the license agreement carefully, then click I agree to continue with the installation.

  4. Enter or browse the location where you want to install the application, then click Next.

  5. Create an administrator name and password which is used to log on to the web console.

We recommended you to create a strong password that contains a combination of alphanumeric and other characters. Remember the name and password as you need them when you log on to the Database Security console.

    Note

You can add more administrator user accounts after you install the server.

  6. Click Next, then configure the server listening ports:

    • In the HTTPS/1.1 Connector Port field, enter the management port number or leave the default settings unchanged.

      Note

We recommend using the default settings unless the ports are already taken or a firewall between the databases and the server is set up to drop the traffic.

    • In the Shutdown Port and Shutdown Key fields, enter the shutdown port number and key, respectively.

    • In the Sensor Connector Port field, enter the port number of the server that would communicate with the sensor.

  7. Click Install.

  8. After the installation is complete, click Next.

The Configure backend database window displays the following back-end database options to choose from:

    • Oracle/MSSQL External Database – This is used in production environments to store production data and to create backups of the back-end database.

    • Internal Database (Evaluation installation only) – This stores data in an embedded HSQL database in the Database Security server installation location and is used for evaluation purposes only. Do not use it for production deployments of the back-end database.

  9. If Oracle/MSSQL External Database is selected:

    1. Click Next until you see the DBMS details window.

    2. Provide the DBMS details and click Next.

  10. If Internal Database (Evaluation installation only) is selected, click Next.

  11. Verify that the Run Trellix Database Security Server service checkbox is selected, then click Finish.

The server is successfully installed on your computer and you are prompted to log on to the Database Security console.
