Reimage an appliance using RMM virtual media

You can use a system that connects to a Remote Management Module (RMM) virtual media to reimage an appliance to the latest version.

  • Make sure that the RMM virtual media is connected to your network.

  • Decide the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway IP address to use when configuring the RMM port.

  • Make sure Java is installed on the computer that connects to the RMM virtual media.

  • Locate the grant number you received after purchasing the product.

  1. Download the Trellix DLP Network Monitor .iso image file to the computer that connects to the RMM virtual media.

    1. In a web browser, go to https://www.trellix.com/en-us/downloads.html.

    2. Enter your grant number, then select the appropriate product and version.

    3. In the Software Downloads tab, select, and save the appropriate *.iso file.

  2. Log on to the appliance as administrator.

  3. From the appliance console menu, select Reboot to restart the system.

  4. On the computer that connects to the RMM virtual media, open a web browser and enter:

    https://<RMM IP address>

    Use the administrator account credentials.

  5. Select the .iso file and follow these instructions to reimage.

    Applicable to Trellix DLP 8800 appliance

    1. Click the Remote Control tab.

    2. In the Remote Console Preview section, HTML5 is enabled by default, click to open the remote console.

    3. Click Virtual Media, which is located on the right-hand side.

    4. In the Device1 tab, select ISO Image from the Select Device Type menu. Browse to select the ISO image by clicking the Select File button.

    5. Click the Mount button.

      The appliance is reimaged using the .iso file. Wait for the installation to complete.

    Applicable to Trellix DLP 7700 appliance

    1. On the Remote Control tab, click Launch Console.

    2. On the Virtual Media tab, select Virtual Storage.

      The Virtual Storage <version> pane opens.

    3. In the Device1 tab, select ISO File from the Logical Drive Type menu. Browse to select the ISO image by clicking the Open Image button.

    4. Click the Plug in button and click OK.

    5. On the Power Control tab, select Power reset.

      The appliance is reimaged using the .iso file. Wait for the installation to complete.

    6. Go to back to Virtual MediaVirtual Storage and select the Device1 tab.

    7. Click Unplug and click OK.

    Caution

    If you don't unplug the ISO, the appliance gets reimaged after the next reboot, removing your current installation and returning the appliance to factory default.

    Applicable to Trellix DLP 6600 appliance

    1. On the Remote Control tab, click Launch Console.

    2. On the Device tab, select Redirect ISO and browse to the .iso file.

    3. On the Remote Control tab, select Server Power ControlPower Cycle Server.

      The appliance is reimaged using the .iso file. Wait for the installation to complete.

    4. On the Device tab, disable Redirect ISO.

    Caution

    If you don't disable ISO, the appliance gets reimaged after the next reboot, removing your current installation and returning the appliance to factory default.

  6. From the appliance console menu, select Reboot to restart the system.

  7. Select the full installation mode, which is the default and the recommended option.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to reimage the appliance and configure the appliance from the Setup Wizard.
