Sensor log files overview

Sensor log file names on Linux and Unix are dbs.log and on Windows is logfile.log, the following sections refer to the log file names as <BASE_NAME>.

  • Sensor main log — Name: <BASE_NAME>. This log file contains general sensor logging details like communication flow, database detection, statistics, and management of monitored DBMS.

  • Sensor DBMS instance log — Name: <BASE_NAME>_<DBMS Unique Name>. The sensor maintains a log file per monitored DBMS instance that includes DBMS details, statistics, and alerts.

  • Standard output log — Name: <BASE_NAME>.std. This log file contains the standard output and standard error output of the Sensor process. The file contains a log of every instance when the Sensor is started and might contain sparse periodic information output. This file contains any errors if they occur. If the file grows beyond 1 MB, we recommended you to review the file for errors and report them to Customer Success if needed.

  • Cache Statistics log — Name: <BASE_NAME>.log_caches. This log file contains statistics about internal caches used by the sensor. This file can help in the analysis of sensor resource usage.
