Understanding Email Security integration with Microsoft Office 365

Prev Next

Microsoft Office 365 (O365) is a subscription-based service that provides anti-malware and anti-spam (AV/AS) scanning via Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and hosted email via Exchange Online. This service allows you to have a cloud-based AV/AS system with optional cloud-based email hosting.

Trellix's Email Security - Cloud service compliments O365/EOP's basic security by providing additional protection against advaced targeted email attacks in either an out of band (BCC) or inline mode. Additionally, the Email Security - Cloud service can augment O365/EOP's AV/AS service by functioning as the primary AV/AS scanning layer, or inline mode with hygiene.

The table below illustrates the supported integration methods between O365/EOP and Email Security - Cloud.

This document is intended to provide guidance for integrating your existing O365/EOP service with Trellix Email Security - Cloud. For detailed information on managing your Email Security - Cloud service, see the Email Security — Cloud Administration Guide. Some of the integration methods discussed in this document require the transport rule feature that is available in select subscription levels of Microsoft Exchange Online and Office 365. See Microsoft documentation online for more information.
