Check upgrade compatibility manually before upgrading from version 10.x

Prev Next

Use these instructions if you are upgrading from one of these Trellix ESM versions:

  • 10.1.x through 10.3.x

  • 11.0.x and 11.1.x

If you are upgrading from version 10.0.x or earlier, contact Support.

If you are upgrading from 10.4.x or 11.2.x and later, pre-upgrade checks happen automatically during the upgrade process.

These factors affect the success of the upgrade:

Disk space

Each device should have 55-Gb total disk space.

ELM, ELMREC, and ENMELM require 150GB free space each.

VMs for all devices need at least 500 GB of disk space.

Health Flags

Yellow flags typically indicate inactivity, but might indicate alarms that need to be synced or a pending Write action.

Red flags indicate more serious conditions and usually lead you to the System log.

Best practice is to be "flag free" so serious issues aren't obscured by a datasource inactivity.

Connectivity

Verify the connectivity to each of the keyed devices.

Ports

Note the ports, source/target, IP, and protocols that need to be allowed by firewall rules.

Processes

Perform a status check from the GUI for each device to make sure that key processes in the system are running.

  1. Verify that your system meets the minimum system requirements. See System Requirements and theKnowledge Base article.

  2. Verify that your hardware is Generation 4 or later.

  3. Decide on a cluster mode. See Trellix ESM Clusters.

  4. Select the Device Status view and check available disk space on each device.

  5. Check the health status (red or yellow flags) of each device and resolve the issues.

  6. Check network connectivity to each device (<device> PropertiesConnectionStatus).

  7. Check the status of the processes running on each device (<device> Properties<device> InformationRefresh.
