This section describes how to configure a proxy server in system mode or manual mode for a new custom policy.
To configure a proxy server in system mode for select host sets in your environment:
Log in to the Web UI as an administrator.
From the Admin menu, select Policies to access the Policies page.
From the Policies table, click CREATE CUSTOM POLICY to go to the Edit Policy page.
Click the Categories drop-down menu.
Click the Proxy checkbox and APPLY.

From the Proxy tab, toggle the Proxy ON/OFF switch to ON to enable your HTTPS proxy server.

Click the Proxy Settings drop-down menu and select System.
Click Save to save the policy settings.
Note
If you use the Web UI to configure your proxy server for your xAgent s using the operating system proxy settings on your Windows endpoint, and your endpoint has proxy authentication enabled, you must manually specify the proxy
usernameandpasswordkeys in the xAgent configuration file. If you do not specify these keys in the agent configuration file, the connection between the xAgent and the Endpoint Security (HX) server will fail.

From the Policies table, click CREATE CUSTOM POLICY to go to the Edit Policy page.
Click the Categories drop-down menu.
Click the Proxy checkbox and APPLY.
Toggle the Proxy ON/OFF switch to ON to enable your HTTPS proxy server.
Click the Proxy Settings drop-down menu and select User Defined.

Manually enter the following settings for your proxy server:

Description
Proxy name:
Enter the HTTPS proxy server hostname or IP address.
Note
When the proxy
typeis set tomanual, the proxyserversetting is required or your proxy server connection will fail. The proxyserversetting has no default value.Port:
Enter your HTTPS proxy server port number (optional setting). The default value is 80.
Excluded Hosts:
Enter a list of hosts that should be excluded from proxy support.
Exclude Local/Simple Host Names
Select this box to enable your host list exclusions from proxy support.
Username:
Enter the username required to authenticate access to the proxy server.
Password:
Enter the password required to authenticate access to the proxy server.
Retry Delay:
Enter the time interval (in seconds) required before the proxy server attempts to reconnect after a connection failure. The default value is 1200 seconds.
Click Save to save the policy settings.
After creating your custom proxy policy, you must assign the policy to select host sets in your environment. See Assigning Host Sets to Agent Policies for more information.
