Create SNMP traps as alarm actions

Send SNMP traps as an alarm action.

Prepare the SNMP trap Receiver (only needed if you don't have an SNMP trap Receiver).

  1. Create an SNMP profile to tell Trellix ESM where to send the SNMP traps.

    1. From the Trellix ESM dashboard, click menu.png and select More Settings.

    2. On the system navigation tree, select Trellix ESM and click Settings.png.

    3. Click Profile ManagementAdd.

    4. Select SNMP Trap for the Profile Type.

    5. Enter the remaining fields and click OK.

  2. Configure SNMP on Trellix ESM.

    1. On the System Properties page, click SNMP ConfigurationSNMP Traps.

    2. Select the Trap Port and Send fields to send the types of traps.

    3. Select the added profile under Destinations.

    4. Click ApplyOK.

  3. Define an alarm with SNMP Trap as an action.

    1. On the System Properties page, click AlarmsAdd.

    2. Enter the information needed on the Summary, Condition and Devices tabs, selecting Internal Event Match for the Type.

    3. Click Actions tab and select Send MessageConfigure.

    4. To select or create a template for SNMP messages:

      • Select Basic SNMP Template from the SNMP list.

      or

      • Click Templates and select an existing template.

      or

      • Click Add to define a new template.

    5. On the Alarm Settings page, continue with the alarm setup and click Finish.
