email-analysis mta softbounce

Prev Next

Use this command to enable or disable soft bounce on the Email Security — Server appliance.

Soft bounce is enabled by default to prevent emails from being dropped if they cannot be delivered to the next-hop IP address. These emails are placed in the Deferred Queue while the Email Security — Server appliance attempts to deliver them. If the emails still cannot be delivered when the timer for the Deferred Queue expires, they are transferred to the Bounced Queue, where they remain until the Bounced Queue timer expires.

If soft bounce is disabled, emails that are not successfully delivered are permanently dropped and a non-delivery report is returned to the email sender.
