Enabling or disabling Scan on Install

Prev Next

The Scan on Install toggle enables a scan when you install new malware protection content on an endpoint. When activated, the endpoint scans key system locations, such as the operating system directory. For example, C:\Windows\system32, and also installed application directories such as C:\Program Files. These locations contain files that the operating system and applications access frequently. Scanning these files when installing new malware protection content helps ensure the latest content inspects commonly used files.

Note

In non-persistent VDI environments, agent provisioning initiates the Scan on Install feature after each sign-in. This can cause the agent to consume excessive memory and network resources, and impact system performance.

To help reduce this impact, the Malware Scans policy configuration page in the Endpoint Security Web UI includes a Scan on Install toggle. This feature allows administrators to deactivate this scanning attribute for non-persistent VDI environments.

To enable or disable scan on install:

  1. Log in to the HX Web UI as an administrator.

  2. From the Admin menu, select the Policies page.

  3. Select the Malware Scans tab.

  4. Click the ON/OFF switch next to Scan on Install. Set this switch to ON to enable scan on install. Set this switch to OFF to disable scan on install.

  5. Click the Save.
