Endpoint Upgrade Assistant

Prev Next

Endpoint Upgrade Assistant is a tool that assists with upgrading endpoints to the latest version of Trellix ENS. The tool also upgrades other Trellix products at the same time to maintain compatibility.

Administrators can use Endpoint Upgrade Assistant to:

  • Analyze endpoints, detect the supported Trellix products that are installed, and determine the minimum requirements for upgrading to Trellix ENS.

  • Upgrade older versions of Trellix ENS or legacy products like VirusScan Enterprise to the latest version of Trellix ENS.

  • Remove incompatible Trellix products.

  • Upgrade incompatible products to recommended versions.

  • Prepare, deploy, and track product upgrades throughout the environment.

Endpoint Upgrade Assistant is bundled with ePO - On-prem 5.10.x. If you're using ePO - On-prem 5.9.x, you need to download it from the Trellix Product Downloads site and install it.

Components

Endpoint Upgrade Assistant includes these components:

  • Endpoint Upgrade Assistant extension — Installed on the ePO - On-prem server. Provides the features for analyzing, preparing, and tracking Trellix product upgrades for your environment, as well as deploying Health Check to endpoints and viewing the results of its analysis. (Make sure that your servers are running ePolicy Orchestrator - On-premises 5.1.2 or later)

  • Endpoint Upgrade Automation installation package — Deployed to endpoints along with the installation packages for the products you're upgrading. Manages upgrades on endpoints: removes incompatible versions of existing products, installs compatible versions, and reports deployment status to Endpoint Upgrade Assistant.

When you install the product extension, a copy of the Upgrade Automation installation package is checked in automatically to each ePO - On-prem branch. You can deploy upgrades from any branch.

If you need to change the product modules or settings included in the default installation package, you can use the Package Creator tool that is bundled with Endpoint Upgrade Assistant to generate a custom package.

The Endpoint Upgrade Assistant Health Check tool, tests for conditions on endpoints that would likely cause a migration to fail and provides the necessary details to continue further.
