On-premises appliance overview

An on-premises Endpoint Security (HX) appliance is an instance of the Endpoint Security (HX) Server system image deployed on a physical appliance.

The physical appliance must be installed prior to deploying the appliance. For information about installing HX or HXD appliance hardware, see the relevant Hardware Administration Guide.

On-premises Endpoint Security (HX), cloud Endpoint Security (HX), and virtual Endpoint Security (HX) (models HX4500DV and HX4502) appliances are rated up to 100,000 agents. Cloud Endpoint Security (HX) appliances have better performance than on-premises Endpoint Security (HX) appliances due to their storage configurations, which are based on SSD volumes that are designed to deliver guaranteed performance. Virtual Endpoint Security (HX) appliance performance will vary depending on the hardware resources you have selected for the appliance.

For information on deploying an on-premises appliance, see On-premises appliance deployment steps.
