Restore ELM data

Prev Next

To replace an Enterprise Log Manager (ELM), restore the management database and log data to the new ELM.

This procedure only works when all the data is on remote storage and nothing is on local disk. For a system with a DAS, the DAS will have to be moved to the new ELM.

Caution

To restore the data from an old ELM to a new ELM, don't create an ELM using the Add Device wizard.

  1. On the system navigation tree, select ELM Properties for the ELM that must be replaced.

A warning page lets you know that the system can't locate the ELM.

  2. Close the warning page, then click Connection.

  3. Enter the IP address for the new ELM, then click Key ManagementKey Device.

  4. Enter the password to associate with this device, then click Next.

  5. Click ELM InformationBackup & RestoreRestore ELM.

  6. Resync each device logging to the ELM by clicking Sync ELM on PropertiesConfiguration for each device.

Restoring the ELM management database and data storage to a new ELM can take several hours.
