Set up Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

Use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on IP networks to distribute network configuration parameters (such as IP addresses for interfaces and services) dynamically.

When you set up Trellix ESM to deploy in the cloud, the system enables DHCP enabled automatically and assigns an IP address.

When not in the cloud, you can enable and disable DHCP services on Trellix ESM, non-HA Receiver, ACE, and ELM if you have Device Management privileges. This helps if you need to reset the IP addresses for your network.

Note
The system disables aliases when DHCP is enabled.

From the Trellix ESM dashboard, click and select More Settings.
On the system navigation tree, select the system or any of the devices, and then click .
Do one of the following:
- For Trellix ESM, click Clustering, select the ESM and then click Settings.
- For a device, select <device> Configuration, then click Interface or Interfaces.
Click Traffic tab.
The table lists the existing controls.
Add controls for a device.
1. Click Add.
  The Add Outboard Traffic Control page opens.
2. Enter the network address, mask, and throughput rate.
  Note
  If you set the mask to zero (0), all data sent is controlled.
3. Click OK.
