Trellix Endpoint 2311 Release Notes

Trellix Endpoint 2311 introduces enhancements and addresses cumulative fixes from previous updates.

Each Trellix Endpoint release contains the latest updates, which might include improvements to both efficacy and performance, to allow you to monitor potential threats. Every update release is cumulative and includes all features and fixes from the previous release. We recommend that you always upgrade to the most current update.

Release details of Trellix Endpoint 2311

This release of Trellix Endpoint is identified as version 2311, where the version identifier follows a yymm convention. For more information about using Trellix Endpoint, see the Trellix Endpoint Product Guide.

Note

Before installing or upgrading to Trellix Endpoint 2311, update the MsgBus Cert Updater package to the latest version available. This package is available on Software Catalog under the Trellix Agent product.

Product rebranding was addressed in Trellix Endpoint 2210 release. As part of rebranding, the certificates used to sign our software were updated. If your enterprise automatically updates root certificates, the software update/installation does not require any additional effort. However, if your enterprise manages root certificate updates manually, you need to install the new intermediate and root certificates.

The rating defines the urgency for installing this update.

This release is mandatory for all environments. You must apply these updates to maintain a viable and supported product.

New or changed

Real protect URL rebranding - Trellix Endpoint 2311 is a mandatory release which includes URL changes to accommodate rebranding of the Real Protect feature to ML Protect. Customers need to upgrade to this release before January 26th 2024 to ensure clients remain fully protected.


Important

Ensure that the new URL (https://arc-a1.trellix.com) is allowed through your firewall and proxy before deployment of Trellix Endpoint 2311.

When you install or upgrade to Trellix Endpoint 2311, you might be required to reboot the endpoint. On some installs and upgrades, Trellix Endpoint 2311 installation will not proceed until the endpoint is rebooted and the installation or upgrade is restarted.

New or changed

  • Support for Microsoft Azure Code Signing — This release supports Azure Code Signing (ACS). ACS is a new method of digitally signing Portable Executable (PE) files which is used for signing certain Trellix Endpoint executables with Microsoft signatures. Before installing or updating to this release, Windows platforms require special Microsoft upgrades to support ACS signing. For more information, see KB96522.

  • Rebranding - As part of rebranding, the following domain names are updated in Trellix Endpoint 2305 release.

    • The domain name for GTI functionality is updated from echelon.rest.gti.mcafee.com to echelon.rest.gti.trellix.com. For more information, see KB79640.

    • The domain name for Attack Behavior Blocking telemetry is updated from ria.mcafee-cloud.com to ria.skyhigh.cloud.com.

Note

The URLs must be updated if they are currently allowed through the firewall in your environment.

  • Rebranding changes:        

    This is solely for informational purpose, there is no action required. You can continue to secure your organization with Trellix Endpoint as usual.

    You will notice the following changes in the software:

    • Product Name - MVISION Endpoint is renamed to Trellix Endpoint. All features and options prefixed with product name are renamed with the new product name

    • Brand logo – McAfee logo is replaced with Trellix logo.

    • User interface - Color and typeface are updated and provide better user experience.

  • Copyright – The Copyright is updated as per legal requirements.

  • New support — This release supports the newest version of Microsoft Windows 10 (version 22H2, pre-release build 19045) and Microsoft Windows 11 22H2.

Note

Trellix continues to test using the latest builds of Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 22H2. Support on future Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 22H2 builds can't be guaranteed until verified. See KB90744 for Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility information.
