Web Control protects your Mac from online threats, called web-based threats, when you browse sites.
The software monitors each site that you access or browse, validates its safety ratings, and allows or blocks the site according to the configuration.
Web Control provides safety ratings at two levels. In the browser, the software:
Displays a safety rating icon for each site that the search engine lists.
Note
The software supports only the Google search engine.
Displays a safety rating button for each site.
The default setting blocks access to malicious sites that can harm your Mac.
This diagram provides the high level view of how Web Control protects your Mac from web-based threats.
User access a website.
If managed, the Web Control settings in ePO - On-prem enforces the policy to the client system.
Web Control requests the URL reputation from Trellix GTI. If the URL reputation is green, Web Control allows navigation to the URL and displays the page. Otherwise, Web Control navigates to either the block or warn page, based on settings. If the URL reputation is unrated but matches a category in Trellix GTI, Web Control allows or blocks navigation to the URL, based on Content Actions settings.
