When deploying SmartVision appliances, you must be aware of the following behaviors:
Default Settings
SmartVision is enabled by default on SmartVision Edition appliances.
On SmartVision-capable Network Security sensors and integrated appliances, SmartVision is disabled by default.
Note
The Web UI Alerts > SmartVision page and Settings > SmartVision page are accessible even when SmartVision is disabled.
Enabling and disabling
On SmartVision-capable Network Security sensors and integrated appliances, or if SmartVision has been explicitly disabled, you must use the Setting > SmartVision Configuration page or CLI commands to explicitly enable SmartVision features.
On SmartVision Edition appliances, features are enabled by default.
If SmartVision has been explicitly disabled on a SmartVision Edition sensor, you must use the Setting > SmartVision Configuration page or CLI commands to explicitly enable SmartVision features.
SmartVision features and data exfiltration detection are enabled and disabled independently of one another.
Average EPS and recommended maximum EPS
Before you deploy a SmartVision appliance to a production environment, make sure that the average events per second (EPS) measured on the appliance does not exceed the recommended maximum EPS.
