This section describes how to perform the basic configuration of a Central Management System cluster. There are various options:
Single-interface. The simplest configuration uses the management (ether1) interface as the default HA interface, because this interface was already defined during the initial configuration of each Central Management System appliance in the cluster. A different interface can be specified, but requires additional configuration.
Dual-interface. In addition to the default HA interface, this configuration uses a backup HA interface for redundancy.
WAN or LAN. If the two nodes are in different subnets (a WAN), static routes that carry the traffic between the nodes must be configured. If the nodes are in the same subnet (a LAN), this is not necessary.
Disaster recovery. In this configuration, the two nodes are typically geographically separate and the interfaces have relatively low bandwidth. Alert data replication can be disabled to reduce the amount of traffic. For details, see Disaster recovery .
