Requesting management by a Central Management System appliance

You cannot use the Intelligent Virtual Execution - Server Web UI to send a management request to the Central Management System appliance. Instead, you must use the CLI.

You can send a request to be added to the Central Management System appliance to be managed. A rendezvous process enables appliances to attempt the request and allows the Central Management System administrator to see the list of pending requests.

Before you attempt to use a Central Management System appliance to manage an IVX appliance, be sure to complete the steps described in Integrating Central Management System appliances and Intelligent Virtual Execution - Server servers.

To send a management request, you must enable the following:

Caution

The rendezvous process has an identifier (known as service name) that is set to "cmc" by default. The Central Management System appliance and the requesting appliance must have the same service name; if you change the service name on one, you must change it on the other as well. The cmc rendezvous service-name <hostname> command changes the service name; the no cmc rendezvous service-name command restores the default value. For details, see the CLI Command Reference.
