The Email Security — Server appliance uses a domain name and next-hop address to locate the destination mail server. The domain and next-hop address are required in the following analysis modes:
Block mode, to forward emails to the intended recipients, and to send "block," "admin," and "bcc" notices, if configured.
Monitor mode, to forward emails to the intended recipients, and to send "admin" and "bcc" notices, if configured.
Tap/Span mode, to send "admin" and "bcc" notices, if configured.
Drop mode, to send "admin" and "bcc" notices, if configured.
Emails destined for the configured domain will be forwarded to the configured next-hop. The next-hop is the final mailbox host (where the recipients' mailboxes are located), and must be a fully qualified domain name. For example, the domain and next-hop could be configured as "acme.com" and "mail.acme.com."
When load balancing multiple appliances, configure each appliance to use the same next-hop address. In addition, you can configure multiple next-hops to load balance next-hop addresses.
Important
Make sure emails will not be looped back to the Email Security — Server appliance.
