You can configure the SMTP (pether3) interface with an IP address so that the Email Security - Server appliance can receive and send emails based on the analysis modes by using the appliance Web UI or CLI:
The SMTP (pether3) interface must be configured with an IP address and mask length so that the Email Security - Server appliance can receive and send emails in Block analysis mode, Monitor analysis mode, or Drop analysis. By default, pether3 is the MTA interface. For details about how each analysis mode operates, refer to the Email Security - Server System Administration Guide.
When IPv6 is enabled on the SMTP interface, you can configure only one static IPv6 address. When you add a static IPv6 address, the previous address will be overwritten by the new address.
Prerequisites
Administrator or Operator access to the Email Security - Server appliance
An established connection between the Email Security - Server appliance and the Internet.
Enable IPv6 on the Email Security - Server appliance. For details about how to enable IPv6 routing, refer to the "Basic Network Configuration" chapter of the System Administration Guide.
Enable IPv6 on the SMTP interface if you want to configure one static IPv6 address. For details, refer to the "Basic Network Configuration" chapter of the Email Security - Server System Administration Guide.
