Set aggregation and grouping criteria for an automatic response rule

Prev Next

Define when events trigger an automatic response rule. A rule’s thresholds can be a combination of aggregation and grouping.

Use the Aggregation page of the Response Builder to set aggregation and grouping a rule.

  1. In Aggregation, select an aggregation level.

    • To trigger the response for every event, select Trigger this response for every event.

      Note

While configuring a rule to trigger a response for every event, be cautious as it can flood the mailbox with emails. We recommend that you use the aggregation method, instead.

    • To trigger the response after multiple events occur within the set time duration, perform these steps.

      1. Select Trigger this response if multiple events occur within, then define the time in seconds or minutes.

      2. Select the aggregations conditions.

        • Minimum number of distinct values for an event property — Use this when a distinct value of occurrence of event property is selected.

        • Minimum number of events — Specify the number of events after which you want to trigger the response.

For example, you can set the response to occur when an instance of the selected event property exceeds 300, or when the number of events exceeds 3,000, or whichever threshold reaches first.

  2. In Grouping, select whether to group the aggregated events. If you do, specify the property of the event in which they must be grouped.
