The Trellix Data Loss Prevention (DLP) 8800 hardware model runs on the supported Trellix DLP software versions. The hardware model is a 1-U rack-mount chassis that you deploy, install, and integrate directly into a network. The dedicated server hardware includes CPU cores, RAM, hard drives, a Remote Management Module (RMM) for out-of-band management, and built-in power redundancy features. The hardware model scans data, monitors traffic, or prevents data loss.

Trellix DLP 8800 appliances can be set up as a standalone device or integrated as a member of a cluster to balance traffic scanning loads and ensure high availability.

This guide helps you prepare the Trellix DLP Network hardware appliance for deployment, installation, and integration in the network. Trellix DLP hardware appliance refers to Trellix DLP 8800 appliance model.

Trellix documentation is carefully researched and written for the target audience. This guide provides instructions for System Administrators who deploy Trellix DLP hardware appliances in network laboratories.

This document outlines the following core operational areas that define the administrators scope:

  • Hardware overview and specifications: Familiarizing with the physical features of the appliances, including front and rear panel components, LED indicators (for system status and monitoring), and detailed technical specifications.

  • Initial setup and installation: Managing the end-to-end physical deployment, which includes safety and compliance checks, rack-mounting the hardware, and connecting necessary data and power cables.

  • Configuration and deployment: Handling the initial system boot, setting up the management interface, configuring network settings, and executing initial software initialization.

  • Maintenance and field replaceable units (FRUs): Performing routine maintenance and replacing physical components such as Power Supply Units (PSUs), Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), fans, and memory modules.

  • Troubleshooting: Utilizing hardware diagnostics, interpreting system alerts, and reviewing bios/boot logs to identify and resolve hardware-level failures.

Supported model and replaced hardware

The Trellix Data Loss Prevention (DLP) 8800 appliance supports two software products:

  • Trellix DLP Network Prevent

  • Trellix DLP Network Monitor

The Trellix DLP 8800 appliance replaces the Trellix DLP 7700 appliance and Trellix DLP 6600 appliance models.

Package/Box Contents

Each Trellix DLP 8800 hardware shipment contains all components required for the appliance installation in a network laboratory. Verify your delivery items against the packaging checklist. All shipments are included with a contents list.

  • The optional Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array (models DLP-CSA-B and DLP-CSA-A) ships in a separate box. The storage array contains all components you need to connect to the Trellix DLP 8800 appliance.

  • The optional Fiber Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) - Fiber OCP NIC, SFP LR Transceivers network interface module ships in a separate box with an SFP pluggable component and fiber optic cable.
