Deploy packages generated with Endpoint Upgrade Assistant using Trellix ePO - On-prem

You can use a deployment task in Trellix ePO - On-prem 5.10.x or 5.9.x to upgrade to Trellix ENS 26.x on your endpoints with an installation package that you create using Endpoint Upgrade Assistant.

When there is a reboot pending related to operating system updates, previous installs, or third-party application changes on the endpoints with Trellix Agent 5.7.4 or later, install or upgrade of Trellix ENS on those endpoints will not occur until the operating system is rebooted. Endpoints will proactively report the reboot-pending status to ePO - On-prem. You can query the reboot pending status across multiple systems, and it can be viewed in ePO - On-prem dashboards and reports.

Note

When deploying Trellix ENS on Windows Server 2016, version 1803 or newer, or Windows Server 2019, or newer, the Windows Defender installed on your endpoints can be manually disabled. If the endpoints are onboarded with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Windows Server, version 1803 or newer, or Windows Server 2019, or newer, then Windows Defender can be set to passive mode manually. For more information about Windows Defender status after installing ENS, refer to the following Community Article

If you used Endpoint Upgrade Assistant to tag the endpoints that you plan to upgrade, you can select the tag when you create the deployment task in ePO - On-prem. You can also select a custom installation package that you generated using Endpoint Upgrade Assistant Package Creator.

  1. In ePO - On-prem, select Menu → Software → Product Deployment.

  2. On the Product Deployment page, click New Deployment.

  3. On the New Deployment page:

    1. Enter a name for the deployment.

    2. From the Product and Components section, select the Upgrade Automation package that you created with Endpoint Upgrade Assistant.

    3. From the Tag Catalog, select the Upgrade Automation tag that you created with Endpoint Upgrade Assistant.

    4. Specify other options as needed.

      • Installation options — Upgrade Automation supports several command-line options.

      • Trellix Agent options — Upgrade Automation supports most options for installing or upgrading Trellix Agent.

    5. Click Save at the top of the page.

      The Product Deployment page opens with your new project added to the list of deployments. Also, a client task is automatically created with the deployment settings.
