Deploy security products package to multiple systems

Prev Next

When you need to install software with the same configuration to multiple systems, you can either group the systems or tag them together, and deploy the products. This method helps to make smaller or bigger configuration changes to all systems in the tags or groups in single deployment with ease.

  1. Select MenuSoftwareAdvanced Deployment.

  2. In the Advanced Deployment page, click New Deployment.

  3. Configure the product deployment.

    Field

    Action

    Name

    Type a product deployment name.

    Branch

Select a branch created for the specific months. The drop-down list displays the branches created for the past 12 months.

    • Select Current Branch to deploy the latest packages and updates.

    • Select one of the other branches to deploy the older version of packages. The branches list all packages as entitled and the version varies based on the update released during the month.

      Note

The branches are regulated to delete at the end of 12 months. The deployment tasks become invalid when the associated branch gets deleted.

    Package

    Select the software package.

The package version appears based on the selected branch and the update released during that specific month.

    Action

    Choose Install.

    Command line

Type command line to deploy software page. Specify any command-line installation options. For more information about command-line options, see the product documentation for the software you're deploying.

    + Add another package

Click to add another software package.

    Note

You can configure another deployment task to add software package versions from different branches.

    Total

Select by Tag or Group — Select tags or System Tree groups.

For example, if your System Tree contains Group A, which includes both servers and workstations, you can target the entire group. You can also target only the servers or only the workstations, or a subset of either system type in Group A.

    Auto update

    • Select Automatically deploy latest version of products to automatically deploy the latest product version. Deselect this option, if you want to manually control the rollout of product's latest version.

    • Allow end users to postpone this deployment (Windows only) — Select to postpone the software deployment.

      • Type the maximum number of postpones allowed.

      • Type the time (seconds) after which the postpone option expires.

      • Type the text to appear when postponing the deployment.

    Note

Auto update is disabled if you have selected a branch other than Current branch.

    Schedule Type

Select when to run the deployment task:

    • Run Immediately — to immediately start product deployment.

    • Once — to run the deployment task once. Specify the start date, start time, and time zone.

    • Daily — to run the deployment task daily. Specify the start date, start time, and time zone.

    Deployment Description

    Type a deployment description.

  4. Click Save.

You can view the status of product deployment task in the Advanced Deployment page.

    Note

Administrators can change the owner of product deployment tasks using the Change Owner option on the task details page. All users can filter only the tasks they own by clicking the Show Only My Deployments button.
