A Microsoft .vhd (Virtual Hard Disk) blob file is a disk image file format for storing the complete contents of a hard drive. The .vhd file contains the software configuration needed to deploy a virtual Endpoint Security (HX) appliance, known as a virtual machine in Azure. The software configuration includes the operating system, application server, and applications that are needed to create the virtual machine.
You must create an image file from the .vhd file. The image file serves as a template from which you can deploy multiple virtual machines.
The following table summarizes the steps to create an Endpoint Security (HX) virtual machine in Microsoft Azure.
