Generation 5 LEDs

Prev Next

The LEDs provide the status information of the server and the activity on its ports.

Power supply status LED

To indicate power supply status, there is a single bi-color LED. The LED operation is defined as:

Power Supply Condition

LED State

Output ON and OK

Green

No AC power to all power supplies

OFF

AC presents or only 12VSB on (PS off) or PS in Cold redundant state

1 Hz Blink Green

AC cord unplugged or AC power lost; with a second power supply in parallel still with AC input power.

Amber

Power supply warning events where the power supply continues to operate; high temp, high power, high current, slow fan.

1 Hz Blink Amber

Power supply critical event causing a shutdown; failure, OCP, OVP, Fan Fail

Amber

Power supply FW updating

2 Hz Blink Green

External RJ45 NIC Port LED

Each ethernet port drives two LEDs on each network interface connector (NIC). The LED on the connector indicates link speed.

System Status LED

Indicate the current health of the server system.

Description

Off

System is not operating

Not ready

  • System is turned off (AC or DC).

  • System is in EuP Lot6 Off Mode.

  • System is in S5 Soft-Off State.

Green

Solid on

OK

The system is running (in S0 State) and the status is Healthy.

Green

1-Hz blink

Degraded - system is functional, or system is operating in a redundant state but with an impending failure warning

System degraded: Redundancy loss, Fan warning, Non-critical threshold crossed, Power supply predictive failure, and Battery failure.

Amber

1-Hz blink

Non-critical - system is operating in a degraded state with an impending failure warning, although still functioning

Non-fatal alarm – system is likely to fail.

Amber

Solid on

Critical, non-recoverable – System is halted

Fatal alarm – system has failed or shutdown.

Drive Activity and Status LED

Each drive carrier includes separate LED indicators for drive Activity and drive Status.

Amber

Off

No access and no fault

Solid On

Hard Drive Fault has occurred

Blink

RAID rebuild in progress (1 Hz), Identify (2 Hz)

Power or Sleep button

Toggles the system turn on and off. This button also functions as a sleep button if enabled by an advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI) compliant operating system.

Description

Turn off

Non-ACPI

Off

System power is off, and the BIOS has not initialized the chipset.

Turn on

Non-ACPI

System power is on.

S5

ACPI

Off

Mechanical is off, and the operating system has not saved any context to the hard disk.

S0

ACPI

Steady On

System and the operating system are up and running.

BMC Boot or Reset Status LED indicators

A baseboard management controller (BMC) boot occurs when AC power is first applied to the system. A BMC reset occurs after a BMC FW update, on receiving a BMC cold command, and on a BMC watchdog initiated reset.

BMC Boot or Reset State

ID LED

Status LED

Description

BMC or Video memory test failed

Solid Blue

Solid Amber

Non-Recoverable condition. Contact Trellix support for information about replacing the motherboard.

Solid Blue

Solid Amber

Non-Recoverable condition. Contact Trellix support for information about replacing the motherboard.

BMC in u-Boot

Blink Blue 3 Hz

Blink Green 1 Hz

Indicates degraded state, blinking blue indicates u-Boot is running but has not transferred control to BMC Linux. Server is in this state for 6–8 seconds.

BMC Booting Linux

Solid Blue

Solid Green

Indicates that the control is passed from u-Boot to BMC Linux itself. Server is in this state for 10–20 seconds.

End of BMC boot or reset process. Normal system operation

Off

Solid Green

Indicates BMC Linux is booted and manageability function is up and running.
