Install Trellix Direct Attached Storage (DAS) appliance

The Direct Attached Storage (DAS) is an add-on device to Trellix ESM, Trellix ESM - ELM, or Trellix ESM - ELS and increases data storage capacity.

  1. Turn off the host appliance (Trellix ESM, Trellix ESM - ELM, or Trellix ESM - ELS) following the normal shutdown procedure.

    The Green power lights will turn off after the shutdown procedure.

  2. Pull the appliance from the rack and open the top case. You might need to remove a small screw at the front or rear of the top case.

  3. Remove the metal bay cover and identify a slot that does not interfere with other cards and install the 9580 DAS RAID Card.

  4. Connect the Mini SAS DAS cables to the RAID card ports.

  5. Connect the other ends of the cables to the Trellix Direct Attached Storage appliance.

    Note

    Ensure the cable is attached from Mini SAS HD port 1 of Trellix ESM appliance to Mini SAS HD port 1 of DAS.

  6. Plug in the power (3).

    Caution

    Do not plug into any other ports unless directed by Trellix support.

  7. Turn on the Trellix Direct Attached Storage appliance and wait 10 minutes.

  8. Turn on the host appliance (Trellix ESM, Trellix ESM - ELM, or Trellix ESM - ELS).

  9. Verify that the Trellix Direct Attached Storage is communicating with the host appliance by running the command: df –h.

The host appliance begins storing data on the Trellix Direct Attached Storage appliance.
