Install Trellix Agent 5.8.x using Smart Installer

The managed system users can install Trellix Agent 5.8.x on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux systems using Trellix Smart Installer. You must have administrator rights to install Trellix Agent on the managed system.

Click or copy the Smart Installer URL on your browser. Smart Installer file is downloaded. Optionally, click Download Installer to manually download the file.
Perform these steps to install Trellix Agent on different operating systems.
- For Windows:
  1. Run the TrellixSmartInstall.exe installer file.
  2. Click Next to continue. A dialog shows the progress of the installation.
  The installation log McAfeeSmartInstall.log is saved in <LocaltempDir>\McAfeeLogs.
- For Macintosh - The TrellixSmartInstall.sh installer file is downloaded.
  Note
  The TrellixSmartInstall.sh installer file is available on version 5.6.6 and later.
  You can launch TrellixSmartInstall.sh through remote console on version 5.7.4 and later. For more details, see KB93814.
  1. Open Terminal, then enter the path where you have downloaded the TrellixSmartInstall.sh file.
  2. Run the following commands:
    sudo chmod +x TrellixSmartInstall.sh sudo ./TrellixSmartInstall.sh
  The installation log McAfeeSmartInstall.log is saved in /tmp.
- For Linux - The TrellixSmartInstall.sh installer file is downloaded.
  1. Open Terminal, then enter the path where you have downloaded the TrellixSmartInstall.sh file.
  2. Run the following commands:
    sudo chmod +x TrellixSmartInstall.sh sudo ./TrellixSmartInstall.sh
  The installation log McAfeeSmartInstall.log is saved in /tmp.

Trellix Agent then installs other products through the deployment tasks and enforces new policies assigned to the managed system fetched during the first agent-server communication.
