After you have installed xAgent software, you can configure agent settings that specify how the agent behaves while it monitors a host endpoint. These settings are stored in the agent_config.json file.
xAgent configuration settings are normally specified using the Web UI and the API. However, they can also be specified in the following ways.
You can edit the settings in the
agent_config.jsonfile for a single host and apply them. See Modifying the Configuration File for a Single Endpoint. You can create an API custom configuration channel to apply settings to one or more host sets. See Using API Custom Configuration Channels.
Trellix does not recommend manually changing settings in the agent_config.json file or using API custom configuration channels. Some of the agent configuration settings should not be changed without the advice of your Trellix support representative, and generally for troubleshooting only. In addition, some settings should be updated only using the Endpoint Security (HX) Web UI.
Note
If you change values in the agent_config.json file without consulting Trellix Customer Support or in a manner not recommended by Trellix , your xAgent software functionality may be compromised.
