tacacs-server host <ip address> key

Configures a TACACS+ server and specifies the shared secret key used to communicate with the TACACS+ server.

Important

The key you configure on the appliance must match the key that was configured on the TACACS+ server.

Note

For security, you can use the tacacs-server host <ip address> prompt-key command to be prompted to enter and confirm the key, with the entries masked with * characters.

This command overrides the global key configured with the tacacs-server key command.

Syntax

tacacs-server host <ip address> key <key string>

Parameters

ip address

Specify the IPv4 address of the TACACS+ server.

key string

Specify the key that was configured on the TACACS+ server.

Example

The following example adds the secret key for the specified TACACS+ server.

hostname (config) # tacacs-server host 172.16.1.1 key 123456
