tacacs-server host <ip address> prompt-key

Configure a TACACS+ server and prompts the user to enter and confirm the secret key. For security, the entries are masked with * characters.

Important

The key you configure on the appliance must match the key that was configured on the TACACS+ server.

Note

This command overrides the global key specified using the tacacs-server key command.

Alternatively, you can use the tacacs-server host <ip addres> key <key string> command to enter the key string in plain text.

Syntax

tacacs-server host <ip address> prompt-key

Parameters

ip address

Specify the IPv4 address of the TACACS+ server.

Example

The following example adds the secret key for the specified TACACS+ server:

hostname (config) # tacacs-server host 172.16.1.1 prompt-key
