What's new in Trellix Agent 5.8.2

Enhancements

  • ePO - On-prem update 3 improves the secure communication between the client and distributed repository that is compatible with Trellix Agent 5.8.2.

  • You can now disable the About option in the Trellix system tray menu from Agent policy on Windows systems.

  • You can now install the Trellix Agent on Linux systems using custom ports (TCP and UDP ports) through the command line.

  • FQDN changes include:

    URL changes for Agent version 5.8.2 with updated Cloud Bridge version 2.1.0 and 2.2.0:

  • You can now provide the temporary installation directory path as an option when installing Trellix Agent using install.sh on Linux systems.

  • With Trellix Agent version 5.8.2, you can install the free System Information Reporter (SIR) extension to get more visibility into the installed software on your systems managed by Trellix Agent. SIR support requires a Trellix professional services contract that must be purchased separately.

  • Trellix Agent is now compatible and functions with 3072-bit key certificates in ePO - On-prem update 3.

  • With Trellix Agent 5.8.2, Trellix supports only msgbus integrated products on Linux platforms and has removed support for backcompat products (LPC and plug-in integration) and mfert.

  • The logs for mcupdater, MFEdx, and Agent uninstall have been enhanced. For more details, see Trellix Agent logs.

  • Operating system data is now retrieved from cache when WMI fails.

Fixes the issue where the McTray log file size and rollover count was not honoured in the client as per the assigned policy.

Fixes the issue where, during the installation of Trellix Agent on Linux or Mac machines, the ServerSitelist.xml file is copied to the ../var/McAfee/agent/data directory.

Fixes the issue where you can now provide the temporary installation directory path as an option in install.sh when installing Trellix Agent.

MA-15423

Fixes an issue where the Agent version 5.7.8 installation for Linux included outdated components like an old version of ldconfig and libraries such as libc-2.5.
