Trellix® Security for Microsoft Exchange (TSME) 8.8.1 includes feature enhancements and addresses known issues. It also addresses product rebranding changes.

This release is cumulative and includes all features and fixes from the previous release. We recommend that you always upgrade to the most current update.

Release details

This release supports:

  • ePolicy OrchestratorTM - On-prem (ePO) — 5.9.x, 5.10.x

  • Trellix® Agent — 5.7.7

  • Engine version — 6500.9779

  • DAT version — 10483.0000

As part of rebranding, the certificates used to sign our software have been updated. If your enterprise automatically updates root certificates, the software update/installation does not require any additional effort. However, if your enterprise manages root certificate updates manually, you need to install the new intermediate and root certificates.

Rating

The rating defines the urgency for installing this update.

This release is mandatory for all environments. Failure to apply mandatory updates might result in a security breach. Mandatory updates resolve vulnerabilities that might affect product functionality and compromise security. You must apply these updates to maintain a viable and supported product.

What's new

This release includes these new features and changes.

Rebranding changes

This is solely for informational purpose, there is no action required. You can continue to secure your organization with Trellix Security for Microsoft Exchange as usual.

You will notice the following change in the software:

  • Product Name - McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange is renamed to Trellix Security for Microsoft Exchange. All features and options prefixed with product name are renamed with the new product name. However, some of the UI references and file path are still referred to as MSME.

    Note

    The name variation does not impact the product functionality and performance, you can manage and operate the product as usual.

  • Brand logo - McAfee logo is replaced with ​Trellix​ logo.

  • End User License Agreement and Copyright - The End User License Agreement and Copyright are updated as per legal requirements. Please read the agreement for details.

This release supports the file type extension with more than three characters.

Enhanced public folder scan

This release includes the enhancement of PF scan in DAG environment.

Upgraded postgress

This release upgrades the postgress to version 12.10

The on-demand scan now works appropriately from ePO - On-prem.

The recently scanned items now show the correct entries on the dashboard.

Only the selected scan task options are now enabled when toggling between the tasks.

The attachment item option of on-demand scan task now works appropriately from ePO - On-prem.

The email attachment name no longer changed and the BCC field is now removed from the email attachment.

The secondary policy rules based on the sender and receiver being part of Active Directory groups are now handled without any issues.

The TSME events are now parsed appropriately when the corrupt content is uploaded.
