Custom dashboards let you create personal workspaces that display data you consider important. Instead of running a TQL query on the data manually, you can go to your custom dashboard to see the latest scheduled results.
A custom dashboard has the following properties:
Name: Each custom dashboard must be given a name.
Description: An optional description can be provided.
Tags: One or more optional tags can be applied to the custom dashboard to help you organize and categorize them. Tags can also be specified so other users can find your custom dashboard.
Widgets: A custom dashboard must include at least one widget and can include up to five widgets. You cannot publish a custom dashboard until at least one widget and a schedule are defined.
Add one to five widgets that perform different functions, such as showing the results of a TQL query in a table or in a bar chart. Widgets provide an easy way to automate your most frequently used or highest priority queries in Helix Enterprise. See Using widgets with custom dashboards.
Schedule: A custom dashboard must include a schedule. Reports for the custom dashboard are automatically generated on this schedule. See Viewing results for a custom dashboard.
You cannot publish a custom dashboard until at least one widget and a schedule are defined. In addition, a custom dashboard schedule cannot be specified until at least one widget is defined on the dashboard. See Scheduling a custom dashboard.
Visibility: By default, a custom dashboard has public visibility, which means all users can use and view the dashboard, assuming the data policy assigned to them allows access to the dashboard data. If the visibility is "private," only you and the organization admin can use and view your dashboard. See Setting the visibility of your dashboard.
Note
Organization-related options are included in the federated view, described in Federated view.
When you initially create a custom dashboard, you must provide a name for it. You can define its other properties later. When the dashboard includes at least one widget and a schedule, it can be published. See Publishing a custom dashboard.
After your custom dashboard is published, reports from it can be generated and viewed. Users can use and view your custom dashboard if the following are true:
The dashboard has public visibility, which is the default setting.
The data policies assigned to the other users gives access to the data in the dashboard.
