Scenario 2: Deployment of DLP Capture Storage Array with Trellix DLP 8800

Prev Next

Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array ships on a JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) storage system. Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array integrates with Trellix DLP 8800 appliance to provide additional storage space required for using the DLP Capture feature. Prepare the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array for deployment and integration with the Trellix DLP Network appliance.

Caution

Read this guide for the step-by-step instructions before setting up the hardware. Don't connect to the power sources until the hardware installation is complete as both the appliance and Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array are set to ON by default when the power sources are connected. Also, don't turn on the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array until the appliance is set up.

This section guides you through the sequential steps to physically install and provision the DLP 8800 hardware appliance.

  1. Before you start to set up the hardware, read these topics:

    • FCC compliance

    • Safety compliance guidelines

    • Rack-mounting considerations

    • Check your shipment

  2. Identify the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array back panel (Identify the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array back panel (DLP-CSA-B) or Identify the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array back panel (DLP-CSA-A)).

  3. To prepare the Trellix DLP 8800 appliance for use with Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array:

    1. Identify the RAID controller connections and RAID backup unit (Identify the RAID controller connections (Set B) or (Identify the RAID controller connections (Set A)).

      The Trellix DLP

Trellix DLP 8800 appliance doesn't use an internal backup unit (super capacitor). Install the backup unit for the DLP Capture RAID controller using the single tier backup unit to protect the RAID cache if there is a power outage.

    2. Install the RAID backup unit inside Trellix DLP 8800 appliance.

    3. Install the RAID controller inside Trellix DLP 8800 appliance.

    4. Connect the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array to the Trellix DLP 8800 appliance after installing the boxes in the racks.

  4. Install Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array in a rack.

  5. Connect the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array power cords to the power sources.

  6. Connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the appliance.

  7. Connect the appliance power cords. The appliance ships with two AC power cords specific to your country or region. Turn on the appliance.

  8. Reinstall the appliance software when you connect a capture storage disk to an existing appliance.

Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array is not recognized until the appliance software is reinstalled.

Note

The Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array hardware setup must not be changed after installing the appliance software, otherwise the appliance might not function as expected. If the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array and RAID card are present when the appliance is installed, both must remain present and powered on. If the RAID card is removed or the Trellix DLP Capture Storage Array is disconnected, the appliance software must be reinstalled after the change.
