You can install Trellix Agent 5.8.x in VDI mode on a non-persistent virtual image by using Smart Installer (URL-based installer). This avoids the duplication of the GUID.

  1. Download Trellix Agent extension and software packages.

  2. On the ePO - On-prem console, select Menu Systems System Tree , then select New Systems.

  3. Select Create URL for client-side agent download.

  4. Enter a custom URL name.

  5. Select the appropriate Agent version for Windows operating systems from the list.

  6. Assign a specific Agent Handler to communicate with ePO - On-prem for deployment:

    • All Agent Handlers: Randomly select an Agent Handler to communicate with ePO - On-prem.

    • Select Agent Handler: Select an Agent handler (primary) from the list.

Optionally, if the agents are unable to communicate with the primary agent handler, select Secondary Agent Handler.

  7. Click OK. You can use the Agent Deployment URL to create the TrellixSmartInstall.exe installer file.

  8. Copy the installer file on the virtual image.

  9. Run the following command to install Trellix Agent in VDI mode using a URL.

    TrellixSmartInstaller.exe -v

  10. To verify if Trellix Agent is installed in VDI mode, select MenuSystemsSystem Tree, then select the system.

The System Information page displays the properties of the client system reported by Trellix Agent. The value of the system property VDI should be Yes.

Trellix Agent is installed in VDI mode. It starts the agent-server communication and enforces all policies and tasks as configured on ePO - On-prem.
