Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) is generated when Trellix Agent 5.8.x is installed on a managed system.
Installing Trellix Agent on a persistent VM instance results in communicating with ePO - On-prem server using the same GUID. This results in duplication of the GUID.
Installing Trellix Agent on a non-persistent virtual image using the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) mode avoids the duplication of the GUID. Trellix Agent deprovision the VM instance every time when it is shut down. This allows the ePO - On-prem server to save the properties of the deprovisioned Trellix Agent in the database. Once deprovisioned in the database, Trellix Agent is not displayed on the ePO - On-prem console.
You can install Trellix Agent in VDI mode on Windows operating systems using the following installer packages.
See Trellix Agent deployment flow to VDI-mode systems (KB88533) for more information.
