A golden image is a standardized operating system image that includes preinstalled software and configuration settings used to provision multiple endpoints. This deployment method is typically used for large-scale endpoint and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
When you install the Trellix EDR client using a golden image, you install the Trellix Agent and Trellix EDR client on a primary system before capturing the image. Endpoints created from this image have the client preinstalled and register as unique endpoints in Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) during the first startup.
Prerequisites
Before deploying Trellix EDR client via a golden image, you must prepare a primary virtual machine (VM) to serve as the base for the image.
Create a virtual machine
Install the Windows operating system and all required service packs and updates.
Install Trellix EDR client
Follow these steps to deploy the Trellix EDR client.
Install the Trellix Agent: For more information about installing Trellix Agent, see Trellix Agent Installation Guide.
Install Trellix EDR client: For more information about installing the Trellix EDR client, see Install or upgrade EDR client.
Apply the default policies: We recommend that you use the default policy settings for the Trellix EDR client
Note
If you use custom settings and have file hashing enabled, ensure that the hashing process is completed before you proceed.
Verify Trellix EDR client communication: Make sure that the virtual machine is displayed in the Real-Time Search and that the Trellix EDR client is communicating with the EDR Cloud.
