Uninstall Trellix Agent using command line options on Linux and Macintosh systems

You must manually remove Trellix Agent from non-Windows systems.

The task involves:

  • Removing Trellix Agent from the system.

  • Removing the system names from the ePO - On-prem System Tree.

  1. Open Terminal on the client system.

  2. Run the command for your operating system to remove Trellix Agent from the system. Provide root credentials when requested.

    Important

    Trellix Agent has removed support for the mfert package from version 5.8.2.

    /opt/McAfee/agent/scripts/uninstall.sh

    Use below commands to remove individual packages.

    rpm -e MFEdx

    rpm -e MFEcma

    rpm -e MFErt

    Caution

    Run the commands in the listed order.

    Run rpm -e MFEma-selinux to remove Trellix Agent SELinux RPM package.

    Note

    Make sure to remove Trellix Agent SELinux RPM package before uninstalling Trellix Agent.

    Debian

    /opt/McAfee/agent/scripts/uninstall.sh

    Use below commands to remove individual packages.

    dpkg --purge mfedx

    dpkg --purge mfecma

    dpkg --purge mfert

    Caution

    Run the commands in the listed order.

    Mac

    /Library/McAfee/agent/scripts/uninstall.sh

  3. On ePO - On-prem, select MenuSystemsSystem Tree, then select the systems where you have uninstalled Trellix Agent.

  4. Select ActionsDirectory ManagementDelete .
