Update the BIOS on Trellix SIEM Gen5.5 2U appliances

Install new BIOS on Trellix SIEM appliance.

Download the BIOS update file from the Trellix download site.

Format a USB drive with FAT32.

Important

Make sure that you log in using the administrator password to remove the BIOS password from the appliance.

  1. Log in to the appliance with an admin password that allows you to remove the BIOS password.

  2. Extract the contents of the update file.

    Two folders are created named Step 1 and Step 2.

  3. Run the Step 1 script.

    1. Copy the contents of the Step 1 folder to the root of the drive.

      Important

      Make sure the files are not in a folder, but are at the root level.

    2. Remove the BIOS password from the appliance and press F10 to Save and Reboot.

    3. Plug the drive into the appliance.

    4. Reboot the appliance.

      The automatic script finds the update on the drive. You might need to use F6 to choose EFI as the boot appliance.

    5. Wait for the script to finish. Do not interfere with it.

    6. When the update success message appears, turn off the appliance with the power button on the front.

    7. Remove the drive and start the appliance.

  4. Run the Step 2 update script.

    1. Copy the contents of the Step 2 folder to the root of the drive.

      Important

      Make sure the files are not in a folder, but are at the root level.

    2. Remove the BIOS password from the appliance and press F10 to Save and Reboot.

    3. Plug the drive into the appliance.

    4. Reboot the appliance.
