xAgent policy service

Prev Next

The xAgent Policy Service allows you to dynamically configure and manage settings and policies that control xAgent behavior on all of the host endpoints in your environment. You can restrict the xAgent CPU usage on the host endpoint, control the collection and storage of real-time event data, limit the number of hosts that can run Endpoint Security (HX) tasks concurrently, control how Exploit Guard processing is implemented, and control malware detection and remediation actions.

Agent policies apply to Trellix Endpoint Security (HX) xAgent s version 20 or later, with the exception of malware protection policies and Exploit Guard policies.

  • Some Exploit Guard policies apply to Trellix Endpoint Security (HX) xAgent s version 21 or later; others apply to Trellix Endpoint Security (HX) xAgent s version 22 or later.

  • Malware detection policies apply to Windows host endpoints with Trellix Endpoint Security (HX) xAgent version 24 or later.

  • Malware protection policies apply to Windows host endpoints with Trellix Endpoint Security (HX) xAgent version 26 or later.

If an xAgent for an earlier release is included in a host set that is controlled by a policy, the policy is ignored for that xAgent .

Configure and manage new and migrated xAgent policies, including the xAgent Default Policy, migrated exclusion and exception policies, and custom policies directly through the Endpoint Security (HX) Web UI or the API.

Important

Policy changes take effect immediately and apply new configuration setting changes to your deployed xAgent s.

Note

Endpoint Security (HX) version 4.5 deprecates CLI commands used to set xAgent configuration
